Gopal Metro’s life spans two distinct worlds, yoga and music.
He was raised at Satchidananda Ashram – Yogaville, where, from the ages of 4-13, he studied at the Yogaville Vidyalayam (Temple Of Learning). During his time there, he was trained to be both a monk of the Satchidananda Saraswati order and a youth ambassador for world peace. Today, he applies the practices of Bhakti, Raja, Jnana, Japa, Karma and Hatha yogas to everything he does in the studio and beyond.
In a strange twist of fate, at 10 years old Gopal was introduced to gothic rock and industrial music, which later in life led him to found multiple musical projects in those genres, including Undergrave US (deathrock, not metal), Brighter Fires and Gild The Mourn.
Bella Morte, the first project that he named and founded, is currently listed as #50 in the The Best Gothic Rock Bands/Artists Of All Time, #54 in the The Best Industrial Metal Bands Of All Time and #17 in The Best Deathrock Bands Of All Time on Ranker.com.
In 1995, he sat at his first mixing desk and, over the many years since, he has honed his craft to razor fine quality. He has had the joy and pleasure of learning from Grammy Award winning producer Kevin McNoldy of Cphonic and the incredibly brilliant John Morand of Sound of Music, both of whom have well over 100 engineering credits to each of their names.
Gopal has also run front-of-house sound for Grammy Award Nominees Krishna Das and Jai Uttal and Billboard Hot 100 and Deutsch Alternative Charts toppers The Cruxshadows, as well as Snatam Kaur, Wah, Faith and the Muse, Voltaire, Switchblade Symphony, Stromkern, and many, many more.
He now runs Gopal Metro Studios, a mixing studio where he mixes, re-mixes, produces and masters songs and albums using state of the art tools. While he has mixed albums for artists across a broad spectrum of styles and genres, including singer-songwriter, gospel, hip-hop, EDM, blues, metal, and spoken word, due to his unique upbringing and experience, he highly specializes in kirtan, gothic rock, post-punk and industrial.
In 2010, Gopal went back to school and earned a Music Business Administration degree from Full Sail University, graduating as Valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA and earning the Advanced Achiever Award and 12 distinct Course Director’s Awards (a school record). As such, he is highly qualified to not only mix and master your record, but also to help take your career to the next level.
At every phase of his life, Gopal has been driven towards service and excellence. Utilizing his uniquely broad spectrum of experience and mastery, Gopal’s primary passion, held to the highest standard, is helping you understand, define and meet your musical goals and turn your record into a masterpiece.
